Dahab, Egypt Travel Pictures

We reached Dahab as part of a day-trip to coloured canyon. Quite a strong wind swept through the small resort town, and numerous wind surfers come here for just that. Diving is another mainstay, with the famous Blue Hole in close vicinity. It's a wide hole in the coral which leads so far down as to be inaccessible except for Trimix. At about 60m, there's a huge cavernous tunnel in the coral wall called The Arch, leading to the open sea. Diving through it is supposed  to be a "magical" experience, perhaps in part due to nitrogen narcosis. This area has become the final resting place for quite a number of divers who crossed their limits. You'll need to have Nitrox, advanced Nitrox, extended range and decompression technique certifications if you're "bent" to do this one...

The bay of Dahab. Dahab is much more laid back compared to Sharm, and seems to have less infrastructure and of a less westernized standard. And Dahab is windy! Quite a few wind surfers were in the water, while here you see some divers entering the water.
